what is blogging all about anyway?

My cousin, Rachel put into words exactly what I have been thinking about blogging lately. I am optimistic, and blogging seems to be a projection of only the ideals about my life. It's hard to complain because there are a lot of great things going on to share with my family and friends. Yet there is one thing that makes my heart ache every day. It is hard to see someone that you love so dearly suffer so much. My sister Juli is going through chemotherapy right now. She is constantly on my mind and in my prayers. Isn't it crazy how often times the one needing comfort, turns around and does the comforting? Juli's faith and selfless acts through her suffering motivate me to push beyond where I think I can.

Artist Reception

This weekend was my artist reception for the closing of my BFA Final Exhibition. It was so fun to hang out with family, friends, and art professors. Sadly, I only have a couple of photos from the night. My brother, Matt, Becca, and their new baby, Jane, flew in from Phoenix just in time for my show. It was a huge surprise, and meant so much to have them there. My sisters came from California and St. George last weekend, and Rachel even made it in her wheelchair from Salt Lake. So much of my extended family came, as well as friends from high school and BYU. Thanks to all of you who came to my show, it was a great couple of weeks. I want to especially thank both Mama and Papa Henriksen and Crosby for their help and support. Most of all, I couldn't have done it without Jon (for any of you who don't know, he is an amazing carpenter and art critic). This show has been a long time coming and and now I'm ready to graduate!

We are probably like most aunts and uncles without their own kids to brag about, and so we find it hard not to brag about our adorable nieces and nephews. They are pretty dang cute and lovable. We love visiting them and wish they all lived closer!

Babies, babies, babies!

We have been happy to welcome Jane Evelyn Henriksen and McKayla Rachel Barton into the world in the past couple of weeks. Last weekend we were in sunny Arizona for Jane's blessing and had a wonderful time with the whole family. Rachel and Mike had their little girl the week before that, and we are excited for them too! We love our neices and nephews.

Art Party!

I just opened an art show at Maestro's Gelato Cafe in Provo. My art will be there until March 6. Saturday night was a party with our families and some friends. It was so fun to have a party after all of the funerals and gloomy stuff lately. Jon helps me make panels to paint on, and he was so happy that they all turned out!
Grandma Hanks found the painting she liked that reminds us both of Grandpa. She is so sweet!

Dad took us to a yummy little Italian restaurant for dinner before the art show.
